MANILA — A massive fire broke out at a factory in Barangay Veinte Reales, Valenzuela City on Friday afternoon.

The fire started shortly after 5 p.m. and was escalated to Task Force Alpha at 7:50 p.m., allowing more fire trucks and personnel from neighboring areas to respond.

Barangay Captain Pio San Diego Jr. said the factory produces plastic products and shampoo sachets, which contain flammable chemicals—making it difficult for firefighters to control the blaze.

"Mga chemicals kasi mga plastic. Katulad niyan pag inaano ng tubig lumalakas dapat talaga bombahan ng bombahan ng tubig," he said.

Workers claimed that no one was inside the facility at the time of the incident. However, they said the fire started in a warehouse that stored scrap materials.

The factory is surrounded by two residential subdivisions, prompting a few residents to evacuate as a precaution.

Among those who left was Jasmine Lorque, who lives next door to the facility.

"Sabi po ng bumbero kanina maglabas na po kami ng gamit kasi sobrang bilis daw po ng pagkalat ng apoy," she said.

As of this writing, no casualties have been reported.

Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection are still working to put the fire under control.
