MANILA — The Philippine National Police urged the public to report candidates and their supporters who would flout the Commission on Elections’ ban on campaigning this Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Under a Comelec resolution, campaigning and partisan political activities on both days are considered an election offense.

“The public is encouraged to report violations to the nearest police station or reach out through the PNP’s social media channels and hotlines,” it said.

The PNP added that it was working closely with Comelec and would deploy teams on the ground to monitor compliance to campaign guidelines.

“As protectors of peace and order, the PNP is here to make sure Holy Week is observed properly and that election activities stay within the bounds of the law,” PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said.

“Campaigning on these sacred days is not just illegal—it’s a disrespect to our values and traditions. Let’s all do our part for a better Philippines by following the law and showing respect,” he added.
