Motorists experienced bumper-to-bumper traffic Thursday morning along the southbound lane of Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City, as road reblocking works got underway.

According to the Quezon City Traffic and Transportation Management Department (QCTTMD), the Department of Public Works and Highways began repairs at midnight as part of a scheduled reblocking project.

The operation coincides with Holy Week, a period typically marked by lighter traffic volumes due to fewer motorists and commuters.

Officials said one southbound lane was expected to reopen later this afternoon, which could ease the congestion in the area. However, another round of reblocking is also scheduled on Thursday, this time at the northbound underpass of Mindanao Avenue.

Iyong iba wala namang ano, at least daw may tao (traffic enforcers),” Luces added.

Meanwhile, slow-moving traffic was also observed earlier at 6 a.m. along the northbound lane of EDSA, particularly from the Cubao flyover heading into the underpass.

The situation slightly improved heading toward EDSA Kamuning and Quezon Avenue.
