The Manila Cathedral reached early  'maxiumum capacity' on Maundy Thursday morning as Cardinal Jose Advincula presided over the Chrism Mass.

The Chrism Mass is a religious service during which the bishop consecrates chrism oil and blesses other oils used in sacraments.

During his homily, Advincula reminded Catholics that Holy Week is a time for resting, renewal, and rejoicing.

We can rejoice because despite the distress, we are also immensely blessed, lavishly loved,” he said.

Virginia Palaca, 65, withstood the morning heat to attend the mass outside.

Christians reflect on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ during the Holy Week.
