Comelec task force seeks disqualification of Pasig bet Christian Sia

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Task Force SAFE on Wednesday filed a petition for disqualification against Pasig City congressional candidate Christian Sia.

Sia drew criticism earlier this month after he made a sexually-charged joke on single mothers. This was followed by another incident where he allegedly body-shamed a former staff.

The Comelec earlier issued show cause orders against Sia over the 2 incidents.

According to Comelec Task Force SAFE chief Sonia Wee-Lozada, both incidents were cited in their petition for disqualification against Sia.

Sia has apologized for the joke on solo mothers, but said it "fall[s] within my freedom of speech."
