MANILA – Foot traffic at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) may peak at 200,000 per day this Holy Wednesday or the last working day for the week for many Filipinos, an official of the company said on Tuesday.

Some scheduled trips to the Bicol region are already fully booked, but travelers could still line up for provincial buses as chance passengers, said Kolyn Kalbasa, PITX’s senior corporate affairs officer.

“Daily average this year is 150,000 so malaking influx yung nakita natin kaya ine-expect natin that’s why ine-expect natin 200,000 for tomorrow,” Kalbasa said in a Quezon City forum.

“Nakikipag-meeting tayo sa bus companies for this influx. Naga-allot na yun ng additional bus units nila para matugunan ang demand lalo na sa Bicol Region trips natin.  May nagfu-fully booked trips na tayo pero hindi pa natin nama-maximize yung buong trip natin or number of trips. Kahit nagfu-fully booked, marami pa rin tayong bus units sa terminal,” she added.

Asked how they could maintain the discipline of operators and drivers to prevent various road incidents, Kalbasa said they hold regular road safety seminars.

“Taun-taun natin yun ginagawa alinsunod sa programa ng PITX which is part of our corporate social responsibility,” she said.
