MANILA— National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin inspected the police security being placed at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange this Tuesday, April 15 . 

Aberin said more than 10,000 police personnel have been deployed to safeguard key locations for Holy Week. 

“Sa buong NCR po, mahigit sampung libo po ang naka-deploy. Ito po ay dineploy natin sa transportation hubs, places of religious worships, sa mga commercial areas at sa iba pong places of convergence,” said Aberin.

“Aside from that, nagdagdag po tayo ng police assistance desks sa mga piling lugar na matatao at inatas din po natin ang ating mga senior officers to hit the ground -- mag-conduct ng inspection, to check the operational readiness ng ating mga naka-deploy na kapulisan,” he added. 

The Metro Manila top cop said Filipinos can expect to see a strong police presence at 300 churches with 1,071 officers deployed.  

Meanwhile, 791 officers will be assigned to man the major roads to manage traffic and 399 police at transport hubs ensuring smooth journeys. There will be 592 policemen who will roam around in malls and business centers and 982 officer in parks and recreational spaces.

“Sa ngayon po ay wala tayo nare-receive na report na krimen na puwede maka-apekto sa solemn na celebration ng Semana Santa,” Aberin said. 

“Ngayong holy week sa lahat ng miyembro ng NCRPO, alam naman po natin na holiday po ngayon kung kailan po holiday at nag-eenjoy po ang ating mga kababayan ay ganun din po naka heightened alert po tayo, gawin po natin ng tama at maayos ang ating mga sinumpaang tungkulin, lalo na po security detail ngayong Semana Santa,” he added.

Business Tourism dept expects 30 million tourists during Holy Week 

NCRPO has also deployed 286 officers at entry points, 647 at checkpoints, and 2,068 officers on foot patrol in crucial zones. Mobile and motorcycle patrols (1,993 units) will enhance responsiveness, while covert Red Teams (201 members) will conduct discreet security assessments. A ready Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) of 1,334 personnel is also on alert for any immediate needs. 

The NCRPO appeals to the public to be proactive in ensuring their own safety and the security of their communities. It urged travelers to remember the BLOWBAGETS vehicle safety check.  

“We have ordered for a 24/7 strict and flexible security coverage for Metro Manila during the Holy Week.  I expect every police officer’s commitment to their assigned tasks.  I, together with the senior officers of NCRPO, will be on the ground to ensure the prompt and proper delivery of police services towards our collective of having a safe, secure and solemn Holy Week,” Aberin said in a separate statement.
