Catholic devotees gathered at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila to have their palm fronds blessed in celebration of Palm Sunday. 

For Norie Anne Barba and her family, Palm Sunday is a special and meaningful occasion. Holding their palm branches, they attended Mass together at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno . 

She is deeply thankful for the blessings of good health and her husband’s job as a seafarer. 

"As much as possible pag nandito siya, gusto namin na magkasama kami magkwan ng Palm Sunday," Barba said. 

"It's very important kasi na parang inilay-nilay kung ano 'yung mga paghihirap satin ni Jesus Christ. Simple way namin ng pagte-thank you namin sakanya sa pagiging savior niya satin," Barba added.

 The family of Debbie Villa who came all the way from Rodriguez, Rizal also had their palm fronds blessed, which they plan to place on their home altar

 "Para sakin importante yun bilang isang katliko kasi naniniwala po ako na yung palaspas ay simbulo ng pagdating ng Hesukristo," Villa said.

 Despite the heat of the sun, long lines of churchgoers patiently waited outside the church to have their palms blessed.

 Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, where He was welcomed by crowds waving palm branches. It also symbolizes the faithful’s wholehearted acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior.
