MANILA —  The Department of Justice has found prima facie evidence for robbery and kidnapping charges against police officers who allegedly illegally arrested a Chinese businessman in Las Piñas City on April 2.

The Office of the City Prosecutor of Las Piñas has resolved in favor of the charges filed by the National Capital Region Police Office the 8 police officers, according to NCRPO chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin.

“The filed cases against those eight EPD policemen are 2 counts of robbery and at the same time kidnap for ransom.

“With that resolution uusad na ang hustisya and we’ll make sure also that the administrative aspect of their case will have a positive result also na uusad na po at justice can be served,” he added.

With the resolution finalized, the prosecution formally filed charges the respondents.

A complaint filed against the  Eastern Police District Special Operations Unit chief has also been set for preliminary investigation.

“Let me be clear — the NCRPO does not shield any wrongdoing. I will not condone any misdeed perpetrated by any member of NCRPO and I will ensure the filing of airtight cases against police scalwags.  We will closely monitor the progress of these criminal cases and we shall ensure that the administrative investigation will result in their dismissal from the service, based on evidence and due process of law,” Aberin said in a statement.

“One strike policy po tayo at of course kung may mahulihan ng illegal sa lugar you will be subjected to investigation and relieved from present assignment,” he added.
