(UPDATED) Vice President Sara Duterte and her father's common-law partner Honeylet Avanceña were able to visit former President Rodrigo Duterte at his detention center at The Hague on Tuesday afternoon.

Vice President Duterte arrived at the detention facility at around 1:47 p.m. (Dutch time). She briefly told supporters waiting outside that she has to go inside.

About 20 minutes later, Avanceña arrived and also went inside. The car left and came back a few minutes later carrying Veronica Duterte, the former president's daughter with Avanceña.

At around 3:48 p.m., the family members were still inside the facility, while supporters continue to wait outside.

After their visit, Vice President Duterte talked to the media to answer some of their questions.

She also said she is just waiting for one document, then she will return to the Philippines.

Kitty likewise said the family is making arrangements for her brothers Paolo and Sebastian to go to the Netherlands, but they have yet to finalize the trip since both are busy with their respective campaigns.

Duterte was arrested on March 11  on his arrival from Hong Kong at the request of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as part of its probe into his "war on drugs" that defined his presidency.

The ICC warrant for Duterte's arrest said that as president, the 80-year-old Duterte allegedly created, funded, and armed death squads that carried out murders of purported drug users and dealers.

He was brought to The Hague in the Netherlands on the same day he was arrested.

Duterte on March 14 appeared via video link before ICC judges. He is set to attend a September 25 hearing to confirm the charges against him.
