MANILA (UPDATED) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Tuesday it is addressing the issue of its personnel who supposedly berated a police officer for violating parking rules "seriously and with full accountability."

This comes after the agency stood by its staff Gabriel Go — head of MMDA Special Operations Group - Strike Force — despite a call out from Senator JV Ejercito.

Captain Erik Felipe was the police officer who took offense at Go's actions.

MMDA chairman Don Artes said they takled to Ejercito following the latter's Facebook post urging the agency to "discipline [their] officials".

"Who gave the license or authority to this Gabriel Go to act this way? San ba nanggaling ito at napakayabang ata??? Overbearing and disrespectful to a police officer at that!!! Tinekitan naman na ang pulis tama yon, no one is above the law, pero para ipahiya pa?" the senator wrote.

"Ano ito for the views? Dapat nag Vlogger ka na lang Boi!" he added.

The MMDA said it has issued a show cause order against Go.

It also apologized for the inconvenience that the issue has brought to motorists and to Felipe. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our constituents. It will be a learning experience for Mr. Go and the MMDA as a whole. A proper apology should be made to Captain Erik Felipe for the harm it may have caused him and his family," the MMDA stressed in a release.

The MMDA also noted that it has talked to the Philippine National Police, National Police Commission, and Quezon City Police Department.

The agency said they all agreed that the "isolated incident" would not "tarnish [their] good relationship, and that [they] shall maintain coordination, mutual respect, and cooperation between [their] organizations."
