MANILA (UPDATED) -- Former President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday said he already heard the news about his "impending" warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Duterte, who is currently in Hong Kong to meet overseas Filipino workers based there, maintained he has done nothing wrong to get the ire of the ICC.

Matagal na akong hinahabol ng mga [expletive]," he said while addressing Filipinos at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai.

The former President added that "assuming" the allegations were true, he stressed that he did it for his country men.

"Bakit ko ginawa iyan? Para sa sarili ko? Para sa pamilya ko? Para sa inyo at ang inyong mga anak sa aking bayan," he said.

He also joked about getting contributions from OFWs once he gets jailed.

The event, dubbed as "Pasasalamat kay PRRD," was organized by members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Also in attendance were PDP Laban senatorial candidates including Jimmy Bondoc, Representative Rodante Marcoleta, Raul Lambino, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, Philip Salvador, Doc  Richard Mata and Senator Bong Go.

They asked the support of the OFWs in Hong Kong in their senatorial bid.

Earlier, the Palace again assured cooperation from the government, through Interpol, if the ICC issues a warrant of arrest against  Duterte.

Rumors are swirling that the ICC has already issued an arrest order for Duterte, who faces a possible crime against humanity charge for his brutal anti-narcotics campaign while president and for extrajudicial killings in Davao City when he was mayor there.

Speaking on TeleRadyo Serbisyo, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro acknowledged the rumor but said she could not comment on it yet.

She said nonetheless that a hold-departure order would follow if a warrant of arrest is issued. -- with a report from John Go, ABS-CBN News
