MANILA — The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System on Thursday says it does not expect the country to experience any water shortage for the entire year, amid concerns as the country begins to experience warmer weather.

MWSS Engineer Patrick James Dizon, acting Deputy Administrator of the MWSS Engineering Technical Operation Group said in a television briefing that while demand for water usually increases during the summer months of March until May, recent rains brought about by the shear line and the northeast monsoon or Amihan have bumped up water levels in the country’s reservoirs.

Dizon says the water level in the Angat reservoir, which supplies 90% of Metro Manila’s water demand, is currently at 212.88 meters, higher than the normal water level of only 212 meters.

Meanwhile, the MWSS official assures consumers that there will be no increases in water rates this summer season despite the recent adjustments in the tariffs of water concessionaires Maynilad and Manila Water in 2025.
