MANILA — The Philippine National Police has recorded four deaths in eight election-related incidents, including five shootings, that were validated from January 12 to March 2.

Police BGen. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, said three of the incidents took place in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, two in Western Visayas, and one each in the Ilocos Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Soccsksargen.

Five of the incidents involved shootings, one involved the use of an explosive, one involved a mauling, and another involved cyber libel.

Of 23 incidents suspected to be election related, six in Zamboanga Peninsula, Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and BARMM are still being verified.
