The event, "Women on Fire," featured the fourth nationwide fire drill which highlighted the importance of readiness and awareness in fire safety.

It also launched the Fire Square Road Show, which is open to the public until Thursday, March 6, said Chief Superintendent Nahum Tarroza, regional director of BFP-NCR.

Participants can take part in games while learning essential skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and understanding proper techniques for using a fire extinguisher, among other important safety practices.

Tarroza also reported that the number of fire incidents recorded between March 1 and March 4 this year is significantly higher than those recorded during the same period last year.

He also explained that in March, rising humidity levels are considered key factors that contribute to this, including improper actions taken and inadequate conditions within homes.

Tarroza said that among the leading causes of fires include defective outlets, overloading, and open flames such as lit cigarettes and unattended fires from gas stoves.
