The Nacionalista Party of the Villar family remains in the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas, according to the alliance's campaign manager Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco.

Questions on NP's membership arose after Camille Villar, who is seeking a Senate seat, missed rallies in Tacloban City, Leyte, Trece Martires, Cavite and Sta. Rosa, Laguna following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Yes, the Nacionalista Party remains part of Alyansa. Las Pinas Representative Camille Villar was present in an Alyansa meeting last night," said Tiangco.

Camille's mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar publicly disagreed with the arrest and surrender of Duterte to the ICC, while father former Senate President Manny Villar expressed preference for Duterte to be tried in the Philippines. Camille's brother Sen. Mark Villar, who was Duterte's public works secretary, also expressed support for his former boss.

Duterte is facing the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, Tiangco said he respects the position of another NP candidate, Senator Imee Marcos, to stay away from the Alyansa rallies.

Her brother President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has stopped publicly endorsing her in his speeches after she criticized the arrest of Duterte. Sen. Marcos also led a Senate probe on the arrest.

"In many public statements, Senator Imee herself said that she was uncomfortable to attend Alyansa’s campaign sorties. We respect that choice and Alyansa will continue to inform voters that our senatorial candidates are capable with proven track record and experience, and they are here to help them improve their lives by supporting the flagship projects of the administration," said Tiangco.
