MANILA -- Makabayan Coalition Senatorial bet Alyn Andamo called for new politics amid the political bickering in the country following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. 

 Andamo answered questions during ABS-CBN’s Harapan 2025 on Tuesday.   

 Asked on her take about the heated exchanges about the arrest, she said "new politics" is necessary to fix the country's problems.

“Bagong politika naman. Para hindi ito pong nagbabangayan na sila-sila lang naman at ang interest lang naman nila ay paano manatili sa poder at paano manatili yung kanilang yaman at yung business interest nila. Hindi yung usapin na paano ba natin solusyonan ang problema ng karaniwang mamamayang Pilipino," she explained.

 “Marami naman pong ebidensya na nagli-lead na meron siyang crime daw against humanity… Ang pinakamahalaga ay dapat iwaksi na natin ang bulok na politika na puro political dynasty, yung nagbabangayan o nagko-contest diyan,” she added.

 “Kailangan po, sino ba ang puwede nating, lalo-lalo na ngayong election na sa Mayo 2025, sino ba ang magdadala ng usapin ng taumbayan? Sino po ba ang pwedeng may magawa?”

 Andamo, a registered nurse, is pushing for reforms in the health sector. She said it is high time that health is prioritized by the government.  

She also said corruption remains one of the biggest problems in the country, as money could have instead been used to improve the healthcare system.  

“Kung ang pera po ng taong bayan ay napupunta sana sa mga tao, like sa serbisyong pangkalusugan, ay hindi po napapabayaan yung ating mga kababayan,” she said.

 She called for more support for local production to address the high prices of commodities. 

 “Namamatay po sila dahil dun sa bumabahang imported na products. So may mga batas din po tayo dapat reviewhin at i-amend, halimbawa yung Rice Tarification Law,” Andamo said.
