Reelectionist senator Imee Marcos on Friday skipped again the administration senatorial slate Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' campaign rally in vote-rich Cavite province.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s sister said she prefers to focus instead on her the current administration's decision to surrender former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court.

Marcos, as chairperson of the  Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has launched a probe on the arrest of Duterte.

"Ang mahalaga sa akin ay tutukan ang kaso ng pagtangay sa isang kapwa Pilipino na isinuko ng ating pamahalaan sa isang banyagang institusyon sa ibang bansa. Pagkat sa kabila ng kampanya at pulitika, napakahalaga nito para sa ating mga kababayan, ang ating OFWs at sa ating mga batas. Hindi lang ito tungkol kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, tungkol ito sa soberanya ng ating bansa," she said.

She earlier skipped a similar Alyansa rally last week in Tacloban City, Leyte.

Their campaign manager, Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco, told media he was unaware of Senator Marcos' position.

"Wala naman siyang sinabi, if that is her stand and we will respect her stand. So mas mabuti na ngang sinabi niya ‘yon, at least alam namin ang stand niya tungkol dito sa Alyansa. But formally she’s not informed me but if that’s her official statement then I will take it as is." Tiangco said.

He believes that despite the row caused by the government's decision to surrender Duterte to the ICC, being a candidate of the administration is still an advantage. 

Tiangco urged candidates to go beyond looking partisan alliances and to appreciate candidates for their track record and advocacies.

"May advantage, kasi alam naman natin na may three years pa si President Bongbong Marcos, at katulad ng ginawa niya dito pinuntahan niya yung mga proyekto niyang napakahalaga. Yung CALAX, and alam naman natin, hindi naman diyan nagtatapos yung mga proyekto. So marami pang proyekto in the pipeline. So para matuloy itong mga napakagandang proyektong ito napakahalaga na supported by yung legislative agenda niya ay masuportahan ng mga kasama nating senator," he said.
