The facade of the ICC building in The Hague. Jofelle P. Tesorio, ABS-CBN News Europe Bureau/File The International Criminal Court (ICC) is looking for freelance transcribers fluent in Filipino and Cebuano languages.

In a job posting dated January 28, 2025, the ICC said successful applicants would work under the Integrated Services Division of the Office of the Prosecutor.

Candidates must have a strong command of the local language and a working knowledge of English, according to the international tribunal.

ICC said the role would involve producing accurate and timely transcripts from audio or video recordings, following guidelines and glossaries established by the Language Services Unit (LSU).

Transcribers will collaborate with LSU to resolve ambiguities, contribute to glossary development, and apply feedback to maintain quality standards.

"Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit a transcription accreditation test. Accreditation is subject to obtaining the necessary security clearance. Successful candidates will then be placed on a roster of accredited transcribers," ICC said.

"Accredited transcribers on the roster will be contacted for work assignments based on their acceptance of the applicable rates and terms and conditions, their availability, and their suitability for a particular project based on their profile and experience, as well information security constraints. The ICC makes no absolute guarantee of freelance work," it added.

More details on the freelance role are available on the ICC website. The deadline for the application is December 31, 2025.

The opening of the freelance transcriber role was posted months before the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte on March 11, 2025, for crimes against humanity charges. However, the ICC job posting does not indicate any direct connection to Duterte’s case.
