MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Duterte siblings to comment on the government's response to their habeas corpus petitions seeking the return of their father former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The camp of siblings Paolo, Sebastian, and Veronica Duterte was given 5 days to comment on the filing of Department of Justice (DOJ), which submitted its response on Monday.

"When the court asks a party to comment or respond, it does not mean that it either granted or denied the petition," clarified Supreme Court Spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting.

The Supreme Court also ordered respondent government officials led by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin to comment within 10 days on the appeal of the Duterte patriarch and Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa on their denied petition for a temporary restraining order on the ex-leader’s arrest.

Duterte was arrested Tuesday last week after the Interpol served the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. He was sent to The Hague, Netherlands on the same day to face crimes against humanity charges related to his war on drugs.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said the Philippine government cooperated with the Interpol and not with the ICC in delivering Duterte to The Hague.
