MANILA — The receipts for confidential fund disbursements of the Office of the Vice President allegedly signed by “Jay Kamote” and “Miggy Mango” may be used as additional evidence by the House prosecution in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to House Quad Committee Lead Co-Chairperson and Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Robert Ace Barbers.

“There seems to be a lot of names that have been used that are fictitious… Dahil mayroon nang impeachment case ‘yan. If this will be used as evidence… the prosecutors can present that,” he said.

House Deputy Majority Leader and La Union 1st District Representative Paolo Ortega flagged additional names of alleged confidential fund recipients, “Jay Kamote” and “Miggy Mango”, which he said resemble a root crop and a fruit rather than legitimate individuals.

Ortega also said that at least five different individuals named “Dodong” appeared as fund recipients: Dodong Alcala, Dodong Bina, Dodong Bunal, Dodong Darong, and Dodong S. Barok.

Like “Mary Grace Piattos”, the above-mentioned names have no birth, marriage, or death records with the Philippine Statistics Authority.

“Noong una, nag-umpisa sa pangalan ng mga chips at saka chichirya… Nakakalungkot na ganito. Parang talagang sadyang inaabuso ‘yung sistema…Kung noong budget briefing, noong committee hearings hindi pa rin maipaliwanag, paano na lang doon sa impeachment courts? So hindi ko talaga makita kung paano nila ipaliliwanag itong mga ito,” Ortega said.

“Parang naglalaro siya ng P50 million, ‘yung among them,” he added.

The issue on confidential funds was among the Articles of Impeachment filed by the House of Representatives before the Senate. Duterte had denied allegations of corruption and fund misuse, saying the claims were part of political persecution.
