MANILA — Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero said Monday Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa cannot be arrested within Senate premises, in case an arrest warrant is issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with his role as the national police chief under former president Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.

The Senate president also said he won't stop Dela Rosa from coming to the Senate, saying it's the ex-police chief's decision whether or not he will seek refuge in the Senate premises.

Escudero pointed out that the Constitution is clear in Article 6, Section 11 on the privilege of lawmakers from arrest.
