MANILA -- Makati police have arrested two riding-in-tandem suspects who were caught on a viral video robbing a victim in Salcedo Village, Makati, last February 8.

According to the Makati City Police, the suspects were apprehended around 5 a.m. on Sunday in Barangay Bel-Air after they counter flowed on a motorcycle.

"Nung pinapahinto sila ng ating patrollers imbis na huminto mas kumaripas pa. At tumumba 'yung motor na sinasakayan ng suspek. Nung nabuwal sila tinutukan pa bumunot ng baril buti na lang naunahan. Kung 'di natin sila nahuli talagang titingin pa sila ng bagong biktima," said Makati Police Chief, Colonel Jean Dela Torre.

Authorities had already been tracking the duo and later verified their identities through witnesses who confirmed they were the same men seen in the viral robbery video.

Based on the police investigation, the suspects stole a cellphone from a foreign national. The Makati PNP also clarified that contrary to online rumors, it was not a shooting incident and the victim was not shot in the head.

The suspects, aged 28 and 24, are residents of Taguig. They also claimed that they had borrowed the weapon from a friend.

"Di naman talaga namin bisyo 'yun ganun. Paminsan minsan lang pag kailangan lang po talaga. Pambili po ng gatas ng anak ko tsaka diaper. Dapat po talaga di ako sasama nung inaya niya ko. Inaway po ako ng asawa ko kasi wala na nga raw po kasing gatas tsaka diaper yung anak ko kaya napilitan akong sumama," one of the suspects said.

The two will face charges of robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and violating the Omnibus Election Code.
