MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) submitted murder and frustrated murder complaints on Monday in relation to the killing of former PCSO board secretary Wesley Barayuga.

According to the NBI Organized and Transnational Crimes Division (OTCD), which is handling the case, personalities linked to the 2020 killing have been included in the charges.

Among the respondents to the complaints is former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Royina Garma, as well as former National Police Commission commissioner Edilberto Leonardo, police officials Jeremy Causapin, Santie Mendoza and Nelson Mariano.

The case was reopened following Mendoza's testimony before the Quadcom regarding the July 30, 2020 ambush that resulted in the death of Barayuga near the PCSO office in Mandaluyong City.

During his testimony, Mendoza identified Garma and Leonardo as the alleged masterminds behind the fatal attack.
