MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Monday the arrest of another police officer linked to the controversial P6.7 billion drug case in Manila in 2022.

At a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo identified the arrested officer as Police Staff Sergeant Arnold Tibay, who was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on January 31.

“Nahuli siya ng CIDG noong January 31 si Sgt. Arnold Tibay ang isa doon sa 4 na active na at large at naka-assign ng SPD. Ngayon ay nasa custody siya ng DSOU (District Special Operations Unit) ng CIDG,” said Fajardo.

The case stemmed from an October 8, 2022, anti-drug operation where PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) operatives seized 990 kilos of shabu in Manila. The drugs were found in an establishment owned by Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr., an intelligence officer of PDEG.
