MANILA – An alleged convoy of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rommel Marbil was flagged down by operatives of the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation
(SAICT) for passing through the EDSA busway, a video shared to ABS-CBN News showed.

The video, taken around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, showed several Highway Patrol Group motorcycles guiding two SUVs – a white Fortuner and white Innova – along Ortigas Station northbound.

When asked by the SAICT operatives who were inside the vehicles, the police personnel said, “PNP.”

“Sa Crame kami eh,” another person added.

A police officer said they were from Camp Crame and were doing an operation.

Based on the video, the SAICT operative insisted that the vehicles were not allowed to pass through the EDSA busway because there was no prior coordination and the busway was only for civilians using the EDSA Carousel.

Asked again by an operative who was inside the SUV, a police officer said, “chief.”

“Alam niyo na ‘yan sir eh. Oo nga pa-Crame pero alam niyo naman na bawal ‘yan eh,” the operative said, based on the video.

The police personnel promised they would return to the operatives to have their ticket, as they were on the rush to go to Camp Crame.

When the drivers returned, they surrendered their licenses for tickets but one vehicle had a different plate number – drawing the ire of an operative.

“Sir hindi na yan yung [plate number],” he said.

ABS-CBN News is seeking the comment of the PNP but it has yet to respond to us as of this story's posting.
