MANILA (UPDATED) — The remains of Police Col. Pergentino Malabed Jr., the Filipino police official who died in a mid-air collision of a passenger plane and a military helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington D.C. are back in the Philippines, the Philippine National Police said Friday.

Upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Malabed was given foyer honors, a special ceremony in honor of law enforcement officers who have died, typically in the line of duty.

His remains were later transported to Camp Crame for arrival honors, a religious service, and a public viewing with vigil guards.

The necrological services are set to be held at the camp’s Multi-Purpose Center of Camp Crame, where Malabed’s dedication to service will be honored.
