MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) dismissed on Thursday the circulating rumors about a white van allegedly abducting children.

PNP Public Information Office Chief Col. Randulf Tuaño said the recent claims were baseless and part of a long-standing myth.

"Unang-una po sa lahat, hindi po namin alam kung saan nanggagaling ang report na ‘yan tungkol sa may white van na nangunguha ng mga bata para ibenta ang kidney," Tuaño said in a media briefing at Camp Crame. 

(First of all, we don’t know where this report is coming from about a white van allegedly abducting children to sell their kidneys.)

Tuaño said there had been no formal reports on kidnappings involving a white van. But he reassured the public that the police were staying vigilant.

"Hindi po tayo nagpapakampante. Tuloy-tuloy po ang ating pagmamatyag at pagpapaigting ng police visibility para maiwasan at hindi tayo malusutan ng mga ganitong insidente," he said.

(We are not becoming complacent. We continue to monitor closely and intensify police visibility to prevent and avoid incidents like this.)

Tuaño said kidnapping incidents in the country decreased, with four cases reported in January 2025, compared to six cases during the same period last year.
