MANILA— The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is set to subpoena Jam Ignacio, the fiancé of DJ and social media influencer Jellie Aw, following allegations that he physically assaulted her.

Aw sought the help of the NBI last Friday, claiming that she nearly died from the beating by her partner.

"Inutusan ko agad ang VAWCD [Violence Against Women and Children Division] nung time na nagreklamo ‘yung DJ na puntahan, kunin, mahuli agad but then ang daming place naming pinuntahan, masyado siyang malikot,” NBI Director Jaime Santiago said.

Santiago said that immediately after the alleged crime occurred, they attempted to conduct a hot pursuit operation.

“During that time na kakaganap lang ng krimen, papasok pa sa hot pursuit. Pero at this point in time, isu-subpoena na lang siya ng aming VAWCD na pumunta rito, sumurrender, magbigay ng statement,” he added.

Santiago further stated that instead of an inquest proceeding, the case will go through a preliminary investigation.

Aw recently came forward with accusations that she had been beaten by her fiancé.

She said the incident stemmed from a confrontation with Ignacio after they met with friends, including a fellow DJ whom her fiancé was allegedly jealous of.

The allegations have since gone viral on social media.
