MANILA — DJ Jellie Aw’s allegations went viral on Wednesday after she posted photos of her injuries online and claimed that she nearly died from the beating.  

She said the incident stemmed from a confrontation with Ignacio after they met with friends, including a fellow DJ whom her fiance was allegedly jealous of.  

“Pinagselosan niya po ‘yung ka co-DJ ko na bakit ko raw parang bineso, niyakap ko raw. Ang ginawa ko po kasi nung nakita ko siya, parang hug po na pa-beso. Ganun po kasi kaming lahat sa work namin. Kumbaga sa amin, wala lang naman po ‘yun,” she said.

“Sobrang seloso po kasi kahit maliit na bagay, talagang pinapalaki niya. Kahit po sa work ko, kapag may kumakaway sa akin sa gig, nagagalit siya.”

She said Ignacio began assaulting her inside the car on their way home, causing injuries on her head, eyes, ears, and neck.  

She said she could not recall how long the attack lasted but managed to seek help when their RFID failed at the toll gate.

“Hindi nagbukas kaagad ‘yung barriers ng toll gate kaya nakapag-open siya ng window at sumigaw siya ng tulong. Nakatakbo siya, kaya tinulungan siya,” according to Atty. Yehlen Agus, chief of the NBI Violence Against Women and Children Division (VAWCD).

“Then, natakot din ‘yung kanyang boyfriend kaya tumakbo din kaya nagamit niya ‘yung kotse niya para pumunta ng hospital,” she added.

Deeply traumatized by the incident, Aw said she wanted Ignacio to be held accountable.

“Madali lang naman magpatawad e pero ‘yung ginawa niya sakin, hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yun. Iba ‘yung trauma e,” she said.

“So gusto ko lang Jam, harapin mo ‘yung ginawa mo sakin para hindi mo na magawa sa ibang babae.”

The NBI said Ignacio could face charges of physical abuse under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.  

Authorities advised Ignacio to cooperate with their investigation.  

“Ito ang kaso ng pang-aabuso ng inyong partner na may dating o sexual relationship sa partner. Sa subject, maganda na makipag-ug ayan na lang sa amin, sumuko dito para makakabawas pa ‘yan sa kinakaharap na kaso,” Agus said.

The NBI urged the public to recognize red flags in relationships to prevent a cycle of abuse.
