Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATE) </strong>— The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced Tuesday that it has identified 252 ghost flood control projects after inspecting 10,000 infrastructure sites across the country.</p><p>Military spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said the AFP and the Philippine National Police (PNP) were tasked to collectively inspect a total of 30,000 projects nationwide.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/19/dpwh-chief-admits-existence-of-ghost-flood-control-projects-vows-probe-1233">DPWH chief admits existence of &#x27;ghost&#x27; flood control projects, vows probe</a></div><p>“From the 30,000, 10,000 na po ang ating na-inspect for the side of the AFP. It turned out that a total of 252 ng mga naikot na namin are ghost projects from 2016 to present,” Padilla told reporters in a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Tuesday.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/18/ici-inspects-flood-control-projects-in-quezon-city-2254">ICI inspects flood control projects in Quezon City</a></div><p>Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon earlier sought the AFP and PNP’s help because of their nationwide presence of military and police units.</p><p>Security forces were given coordinates of the supposed project locations to check whether the infrastructures actually exist.</p><p>Site assessments include physical verification, documentation, and photo evidence.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>20,000 MORE TO GO</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Padilla noted that inspections remain ongoing to cover the remaining 20,000 projects.</p><p>“Patuloy kaming nagco-conduct ng inspections on our end to complete what’s required of us to inspect all 30,000 projects,” the official said. </p><p>“Hindi tayo tumitigil dito.
