MANILA — The number of reported online scams in the Philippines dipped by around 5,000 cases in 2025 compared to the previous year, the Philippine National Police - Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) said on Thursday.Some 9,834 online scams were reported from January to mid-December 2025, which is lower compared to the 14,529 cases listed during the same period in 2024, said PNP-ACG spokesperson Lt. Wallen Mae Arancillo.“Marami pong scammers online at wala po silang pinipili,” she told state television PTV.“Alam po natin na hindi lahat ng kababayan natin ay nagre-report sa PNP. Ang ibang kababayan natin, ang sabi nila, kapag kaunti lang yung nascascam sa kanila like 300-500, hindi na sila nagre-report sa atin since yung abala, yung transportation,” she said.“We urge the public to report agad itong ganitong klaseng mga scam para makapag bigay babala din tayo sa mga kababayan natin,” she added.The PNP earlier arrested 22 individuals and confiscated 55 devices used in text blast scams, where scammers send multiple messages with dubious links that lead to dummy websites, Arancillo said.“Ang nangyayari po ay pwede po tayo makuhanan ng mga personal at financial information at passwords kasi mismong mga bangko at mga e-wallet ay kino-clone nila ang mga website kaya napakadelikado po ng pagki-click natin ng suspicious links,” she said.“Huwag po tayo maniniwala sa mga too good to be true offers, at wag po tayo basta mag click ng suspicious links.
