<p>MANILA – Businessman Charlie &quot;Atong&quot; Ang has filed his motion for reconsideration regarding his indictment on homicide and kidnapping related to the case of missing cockfight enthusiasts, his lawyer confirmed on Wednesday.</p><p>Ang&#x27;s lawyer Gabriel L. Villareal answered in the affirmative when asked by reporters if they already submitted the motion which sought to reverse the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) resolution.</p><p>“Filed Friday last week,” said Villareal in a text message.</p><p>On Thursday, Villareal said the motion for reconsideration asserted that the DOJ resolution was “inconsistent” with the evidence presented before the panel.</p><p>“There was a lot of evidence presented before the panel showing that the ones responsible for the abductions are the Patidongan brothers themselves,” Villareal said in a phone interview. </p><p>“Lumalabas kasi dun ang ginawa nung Patindongan brothers is inunahan nila ‘yung imbestigasyon, pumunta sila kay then-Secretary Remulla at nagkwento na inaamin nila na sila ang gumawa nun. Kaya lang ang excuse nila ay inutusan sila ano,” he added.</p><p>Villareal alleged that the resolution was “rushed” and that there could be some “pressure from above” which he did not specify nor substantiate. </p><p>“Kagabi narinig ko si Sec. Jonvic Remulla naman saying na, I don’t know why he said that, sabi niya hindi na raw ikokonsidera ng Department of Justice ‘yung motion for reconsideration namin, mag-aaresto na sila. Talagang lumalabas talagang nagmamadali sila,” the lawyer claimed. </p><p>“Sinasabi lang namin sa motion for reconsideration na maaaring hindi nila naikonsidera ‘yun kasi parang nagmamadali sila eh. Nagmamadali sila na maggawa ng resolution. May konting pressure yata galing sa taas eh,” he said.</p><p>“Out of respect naman siguro, in the same way that we have due respect for them, they should probably, perhaps resolve our allegations in the motion for reconsideration before they act further.  Kung hindi naman ho siguro para namang bastusan,” Villareal added. </p><p>ABS-CBN News sought comment and confirmation from the DOJ regarding this development, but the agency has yet to respond as of this story’s posting.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>ANG STILL IN PH</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The DOJ said its panel of prosecutors found prima facie evidence &quot;after a meticulous evaluation&quot; of the consolidated cases against Ang and others in connection with the missing “<em>sabungeros</em>.”</p><div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/12/9/doj-indicts-atong-ang-on-multiple-counts-of-kidnapping-1849">READ: DOJ indicts Atong Ang on multiple counts of kidnapping</a></div><p>DOJ indicted Ang with 10 counts of kidnapping with homicide and 16 counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention.</p><p>Ang’s lawyer said the businessman was in the Philippines</p><p>“He is in the country. Mahinahon ho niyang tinanggap ‘yung balita ko sa kanya nung last week na may resolution nga laban sa amin. At ang huling habilin niya sa akin is ‘ikaw na ang bahala diyan, attorney’,” Villarreal said.</p><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
