Willie Ann Angsiy, both facilities were not accredited by the concerned agencies.Inspectors also found that the storage areas were poorly maintained.“Maraming mga karne na nakalabas lang, hindi talaga naka-pack ng mabuti, hindi siya in accordance with food safety standards,” Angsiy said.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/5/nbi-destroys-p200m-of-smuggled-meat-deemed-unfit-for-consumption-1319">NBI destroys P200M of smuggled meat deemed unfit for consumption</a></div>Authorities discovered a variety of frozen products—including pork meat, peking duck, and large volumes of seafood—some of which were already expired.Many of the goods were reportedly imported from countries banned from exporting such products to the Philippines, raising suspicions of smuggling.NMIS Regional Technical Operation Center–NCR Director Fernando Lontoc said the inspection revealed multiple violations.“Unsanitary ‘yung handling. Pangalawa, ay walang mga kaukulang dokumento na may present sa controlling authority,” Lontoc explained.Investigators also learned that the same facilities had been raided back in 2013 for similar offenses.Only the workers were present during Thursday’s operation.According to CIDG-NCR chief Police Colonel John Guiagui, the establishments were already due for closure.“Meron kaming information na this is due for closure. May appeal lang sila kaya hindi pa nai-implement.
