Marcos Jr. leads the oath-taking of the new officers of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañang Palace, Manila, on October 7, 2025. <em>Mark Balmores, PPA pool</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday expressed his willingness to publicize his  Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), saying he would also ask the members of his Cabinet to do the same. </p><p>The Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday had <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/14/ombudsman-restores-public-access-to-salns-of-government-officials-1739">reopened the public access to SALNs</a> to combat corruption and abuse of power.</p><p>In an interview with Palace reporters, when asked about the move made by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla to overturn a circular implemented by his predecessor, Marcos, Jr. said, &quot;finally.”</p><p>&quot;We will follow the old rules,” he said. </p><p>&quot;These old rules were suspended in the last administration where the SALN was – it was much – much easier to get a copy of the SALN and to examine it,” he added. </p><p>Marcos, Jr. said he was surprised that the previous rules were suspended, saying it was &quot;almost impossible” to get a hold of an official or employee’s SALN. </p><p>He also vowed to make his SALN available to those who would need it. </p><p>&quot;We are just going back to the old procedure and we will follow that whatever happens,” he said. </p><p>&quot;My SALN… will be available as available to whoever would like to – kung bigyan – hingiin sa akin ng ICI, eh &#x27;di siyempre ibibigay ko. Kung hingiin sa akin ng Ombudsman, ng ano, ibibigay namin,” he said.</p><p>Former Ombudsman Samuel Martires in a 2020 circular required prior written and notarized consent from officials before their SALNs could be released to a requesting party.</p><p>Amid investigations into alleged corruption in government projects, lawmakers believe relaxing the rules on SALN disclosure is a step in the right direction.</p><p>SALNs would, for example, provide a &quot;baseline determination [of] actual wealth&quot;, which can be compared to an official&#x27;s salary grade and declared income, according to House Infra-Comm Co-Chair Terry Ridon.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Een2TuIEg2M?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
