MANILA – Devotees of Jesus Nazareno endured seven to nine hours in queue for “Pahalik” on the eve of Traslacion.

On Wednesday, lines have been significantly longer, as they stretch from the Quirino Grandstand all the way to Roxas Boulevard in Manila,

But devotees didn't seem to mind as long as they get to practice their annual tradition.

Prior to being a devotee, Erwin Monterde said he had a lot of doubts about his faith.

"Dati parang di ako naniniwala, buhay na parang hirap na hirap ka. Sinubukan ko ditto. Nagbago buhay ko, Malaki pinagbago," Monterde said.

(I used to doubt my faith, because my life has been bad. I tried going here. My life changed for the better.)

"Maganda sa pakiramdam, wala kang mararamdamang pagod kapag nandito ka na. Hindi mo maintindihan nararamdaman mo," he added.

(Going here feels good. I don't feel tired. I don't understand what I feel actually.)

For Ramon Nuestro, the Nazareno has given him the best gift of his life.

In 2015, Nuestro and his wife didn't have a child at 60 years old. He prayed for a child, and he was given one.

"Noong di ako magkaanak, kumapit ako kay Poong Nazareno, pinagbigyan na ako. Binigyan lang talaga. Binigyan ako ng baby," he said.

(I prayed hard for a child and it was granted.)

Meanwhile, nurse Nimfa Merculita took a day off from work to go to the Pahalik.

She brought a replica which was handed down to her by her father.
