MANILA -- Arnold Geronimo, together with his family, meticulously cares for the images of Jesus Nazareno at their home in Navotas. It has been more than two decades since the family began their devotion to the Black Nazarene, the revered life-sized dark statue of Jesus Christ carrying the True Cross.

He has been a devotee of Jesus Nazareno since his toddler days, a tradition passed down by his grandfather, father, and uncles, who participate in the annual Traslacion. 

However, it was only after experiencing a medical crisis that Arnold was motivated to join the annual Traslacion.

"My child almost died during birth. I fervently prayed to God to let him survive. His umbilical cord was tightly wrapped around his neck. This was the reason I started my devotion to Jesus Nazareno. My child is living proof that the Nazarene hears and grants our prayers," he said.

They began collecting images of the Black Nazarene, starting with smaller versions, until they were able to gradually finance a life-sized image. This serves as a reminder of the graces received through their deep devotion to Jesus Nazareno.

The family continues to express their thanksgiving to the Holy Nazarene for all the blessings, success, and opportunities received by their two children.
