MANILA — The Quezon City government announced Monday that it would continue implementing "car-free Sundays" along Tomas Morato every month.

"Car-Free, Carefree Sundays" promotes active mobility, creates a safe and open space for residents and visitors, and aims to reduce vehicular emissions, Quezon City government said in a statement.

Under the program, a portion of Tomas Morato Avenue is closed to vehicles every first Sunday of the month from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. to give way to pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists.

The Quezon City government said after one year, Phase 2 of the program will be implemented and the scheme will be enforced every other Sunday of the month.
