President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday said he plans to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss issues on trade, defense and security, and the White House' new policy on immigration.

"Let's see if we can influence the policy-making in terms of immigration," Marcos Jr. said.

The Philippine Embassy in the US earlier urged Filipinos illegally staying in the country to reach out to their offices as Trump launched his administration's crackdown on illegal aliens.

According to Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez, some 350,000 Filipinos are illegally staying in the US.
