MANILA -- Eight senatorial candidates backed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration are leading the race, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey, commissioned by the Stratbase Group, showed ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo leading the polls with 45% of votes.

Coming in at second is former Sen. Tito Sotto with 38%. This was an improvement from his fifth ranking back in December with 31%.

Sen. Lito Lapid got the biggest gain, jumping from 11th place last December 2024 (23%) to third to fourth place (37%). This solidified his spot among frontrunners.

Sen. Bong Go also improved his rating by 5% and is tied in the third to fourth place (37%).

Sen. Ping Lacson climbed from seventh in December with 27% to fifth this January 2025 with 35%, while broadcaster Ben Tulfo retained his position in sixth place.

Sen. Pia Cayetano was relegated to seventh to eighth this month with 33%. Last December, she was at third to fourth with 32%.

She is now tied with former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who improved one ranking from eighth to ninth last month.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay is at 10th, same as Sen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa with 30%. Dela Rosa was 12th-14th last month.

Sen. Bong Revilla fell down hard from second last month with 33% to 11th-13th in January 2025 with 29%.

TV Host Willie Revillame also went down several notches from eighth to ninth (26%) to 11th-13th.

Former Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan entered the top 12, going up from 20% in December to 29% in January 2025. He is currently tied with Revilla and Revillame in the 11th-13th spot.

Sen. Imee Marcos dropped out of the top 12, slipping to 14th place with 28%.

The survey was conducted from January 17 to 20, 2025, through face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters, with a ±2.31% margin of error for national results.

It asked registered voters nationwide whom they would most probably vote for as senator if the elections were held during the survey period.
