MANILA (UPDATED) -- The security guard who was axed after destroying a sampaguita vendor's wares -- an incident caught on video that went viral on social media -- met with authorities on Monday.

The guard, accompanied by a legal counsel and the operations manager of Redeye II Security Services, Inc., attended a "clarificatory meeting" with the Philippine National Police's Office for Security and Investigation Agencies at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

In a media readout, the PNP-Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) said the meeting was convened to address the viral video circulating on social media involving the security guard.

The police investigator informed all parties of the purpose of the preliminary investigation and the requirements for submitting pertinent documents and affidavits.

The security guard's counsel stated that the affidavit regarding the issue would be submitted on or before Thursday, within the prescribed three-day timeline.

Lt. Col. Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson for the PNP-CSG, earlier said that the security guard and his agency were summoned as part of the due process to assess the lapses and severity of the incident.

This will determine possible sanctions, including the suspension of the security guard's license and penalties for the agency.

The mall guard was dismissed after the viral incident, which occurred outside SM Megamall. In a statement, SM Supermalls said it "strongly condemns" the act against the sampaguita vendor.

The sampaguita vendor has since aired her side of the story, denying that she is part of a syndicate as well as refuting allegations that she cursed or spat at the security guard.

The 22-year-old student also expressed her guilt that the guard lost his job over what happened.

"Gusto ko po humingi ng sorry sa kanya, and at the same time hindi ko po ginusto na matanggal siya sa trabaho," she said.
