MANILA — Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III on Monday said he planned to file a cyber libel complaint against former broadcaster Jay Sonza and another vlogger for allegedly spreading false information that he had been hospitalized.

Torre confirmed that the complaint was ready to be submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) at any time.

“‘Yong mga nag-post na ako’y na-ospital, na ako’y nagkasakit, I am going to file cyber libel case against them kasi ang tinatamaan kasi ang pamilya ko eh,” Torre said.

(Those who posted that I was hospitalized, that I got sick, I am going to file a cyber libel case against them because it’s my family that’s being affected.)

“It’s really a foul," he added.

The CIDG chief said that he was never ill and said that the photos circulating, showing him in a hospital, had been manipulated.

“Hindi nila puwede sabihin na joke only kasi ‘yan ang nangyayari eh. Ang galing magsalita pero kapag tinanong mo na sa Kongreso, ide-deny na... Hindi puwedeng ganon,” he said.

(They can’t just say it was a joke because that’s the problem. They’re good at talking, but when you ask them in Congress, they deny it. Then, the worst part is they say it was ‘just a joke.’ That’s not acceptable.)

Earlier, Torre also filed an inciting to sedition complaint before the DOJ against former Philippine Army captain Clemente “Dado” Enrique.

Torre accused Enrique of making seditious statements while he was still serving as the Davao Regional Commander during the execution of an arrest warrant for Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
