MANILA – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Wednesday launched the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the Asia Pacific Regional Meeting 2025, which were geared towards accountability and transparency in government.

In her speech, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the OPG would help build on their gains on open government responsible to the needs of the public.

"Layunin niyan ay palawakin ang espasyo sa mga mamamayan na makibahagi sa priseso sa gobyerno. Lahat ng boses ay dapat napapakinggan," Pangandaman said.

PH-OGP co-chairperson Aurora Reyes Chavez, for her part, said the partnership would strengthen the Philippine government and its processes.

“We believe by working together we can strengthen democratic institutions... and address regional challenges,” said Chavez.

“Together let us build more inclusive, more transparent and more accountable governments,” she added.

The DBM said the OGP now includes 75 countries and 150 local governments “representing more than 2 billion people and thousands of civil society organizations.”

This move advocates for a transparent, participatory, inclusive, and accountable governance according to the agency.
