MANILA -- Davao City has beat Manila as the most traffic-congested city in the Philippines, according to the TomTom Traffic Index.

In the latest index, Davao emerged as the 8th most congested city worldwide, where residents take almost 33 minutes (32 minutes and 59 seconds, to be exact) to travel 10 kilometers.

TomTom said 136 hours are lost at rush hours yearly in Davao.

In the Philippines, ranking behind Davao is Manila, which in turn placed 14th worldwide. TomTom said drivers drive for 32 minutes and 10 seconds in the city to travel 10 kilometers. It added that 127 hours are lost at rush hours yearly because of traffic.

Topping the list is the city of Barranquilla in Colombia, where people take 36 minutes and 6 seconds to travel 10 kilometers.

In 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place, respectively, are the cities of Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Pune in India.

In 5th place is London in the United Kingdom, followed by Kyoto, Japan and Lima, Peru.

Rounding out the top 10 are the cities of Trujillo in Peru and Dublin in Ireland.

In 2023, the list named Manila as the city with the worst traffic in the Philippines.
