MANILA— The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is finalizing its probe report on the death threats made by Vice President Sara Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said on Tuesday that he has directed his team to carefully evaluate the evidence and testimonies they have gathered.

Kailangan talagang tama,” Santiago said.

Santiago stressed that they took into account the Department of Justice's (DOJ) new rules on preliminary investigations and inquest proceedings.

He cited that there should be a “reasonable certainty of conviction” (as opposed to the traditional “probable cause” standard).

The NBI will submit all gathered evidence, testimonies, and findings to the DOJ, where the decision to file charges will be left to the prosecutors.
