MANILA – Around 1.5 million members of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) attended the National Rally for Peace, an event they organized to call on the government to address the immediate concerns in the Philippines rather than politicking.

The data was based on the Manila Police District’s monitoring as of 4 p.m. or during the event proper.

During the program, Brother Rommel Topacio, INC’s minister for evangelism, reminded politicians that they were elected to serve the people and make living conditions better. He also noted the high food prices and lack of jobs.

Without naming names, he said no one would agree to any leader who follows the principle of divide and conquer.

Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, one of INC’s prominent members, said they agree with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s stance of thumbing down moves to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte.

Hindi puwedeng talikuran ito,” the lawmaker said.

The peace rally ended past 5 p.m.

Malacañang earlier hoped that all the concerns raised during the event will help in clarifying issues that the country is facing and bring forth real and lasting peace.
