Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA -- Several senators denied fresh rumors of an ouster plot against Senate President Francis &quot;Chiz&quot; Escudero, with just six session days left in the congressional calendar before Congress goes on its Yuletide break.Sen. Cynthia Villar, who was rumored to be the main beneficiary of such a plot, denied she is plotting to take over from Escudero, who got the helm of the Senate in an ouster plot against Sen. Ramon &quot;Bong&quot; Revilla Jr also told reporters it was not true, dismissing it as fake news.Meanwhile, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano also maintained it was not true, though he did say there may have been a plot a month ago.&quot;If it happens you&#x27;ll see it, &#x27;di ba? But when there&#x27;s a lot of political [tension]... Alam niyo naman maraming bangayan sa politika ngayon. Pag may bangayan sa politika, whether House &#x27;yan, whether Senate, whether sa impeachment, maraming rumors,&quot; Cayetano said.&quot;Pero in the end, makikita niyo naman kung mayroon o wala. But syempre, &#x27;yung supportado ng present leadership ngayon, we will be the last to know. Kasi hindi naman sasabihin sa iyo dahil gusto ko &#x27;yung change of leadership. But unlike [one month ago] na may ugong-ugong at mayroon kami na-identify na kumakausap. Parang ngayon naman lahat naman nagde-deny,&quot; he continued, adding they met this morning to map out the agenda of the remaining days before their break.Cayetano said the supposed plot was discussed, but they were more focused on what else they can accomplish.Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada said there is no need to change the Senate leadership now and affirmed his support towards Escudero.Estrada noted Escudero&#x27;s legal profession will be very handy in case an impeachment is brought to the Senate for trial.&quot;Alam mo, blessing in disguise &#x27;yan. Kung sakali umakyat &#x27;yung impeachment dito sa atin at least abugado &#x27;yung nagpe-preside.&quot; Estrada said.Sen. Ronald &quot;Bato&quot; Dela Rosa also denied the plot and said if there was an ouster plot against Escudero headed by Villar, he would have heard it by now since they are close.&quot;Wala man akong balita. Kung totoo &#x27;yan na si Ma&#x27;am Cynthia Villar, kasama ako kasi close kami &#x27;di ba very close kami, pero wala man,&quot; the former police chief said.Dela Rosa saw no issue with Escudero even if the Senate did not hike Vice President Sara Duterte&#x27;s 2025 budget next year.Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito also said senators have no reason to change Escudero.&quot;Satisfied naman karamihan ng senators. Marami namang natapos, na kailangang tapusin. So I don&#x27;t think there&#x27;s truth to that. &quot; Ejercito said.&quot;Wala naman, I think. Trabaho ngayon eh kasi  bicam lahat so palagay ko mahirap i-entertain ngayon &#x27;yung coup, no? Or change the leadership because of the many works that we have to do, yung mga tasks naming,&quot; he said.
