MANILA — The Philippine National Police on Sunday announced that it is beefing up security operations nationwide for Christmas and year-end events and in anticipation of potential rallies related to the impeachment moves against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a statement, the PNP said its chief, Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, directed "intensified security operations to ensure public safety, prevent criminal activities, and address political security challenges arising from the impeachment case against" Duterte.
