The Association of Reservists and Reservists Administrators of the Philippines Incorporated, which conducted its first general assembly on Saturday, announced the goal at a national convention for reservists organized by the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

"Gusto naming ipaglaban at isulong ang reservists ng Pilipinas, padamihin and I'm calling also our able and patriotic and nationalistic Filipinos to heed the call of nationalism para po maging reservists, para maipagtanggol or tulungan ang ating bansa sa mga kalamidad din," reservist Lt. Col. Michael "Mikee" Romero, who is also 1-PACMAN party-list representative at the House, said.

There are around 1.6 million reservists in the country including the more than 100,000 ready reserve personnel and the retired and standby reserve units.

He said reservists can also be activated through selective mobilization, which only needs presidential approval.

Nacnac underscored the missions of reservists, which include base expansion of the AFP, partners for civic action programs and socio-economic activities, disaster and rescue operations and sources of utilities for the public during crisis.

Thousands of reservists from across the country joined the national convention on Saturday, which Nacnac said was held to engage reservists and update them on developments in the reserve force.
