MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr called on Filipinos to draw guidance and inspiration from the shared struggles and triumphs of 2024 as the country ushers in the New Year.

"Brimming with well-wishes and resolutions, this occasion is widely heralded as an opportunity to learn from the lessons of the past and apply the wisdom gained to better oneself," the President said in his New Year’s Day message.

"It is our desire for our citizens to embrace this outlook and adopt an introspective and growth-focused mindset that balances the realities of yesterday and the promises of tomorrow."

The Philippine leader reflected on the many disasters and calamities that the nation faced in the previous year, as well as the countless acts of bravery, compassion, and unity displayed by Filipinos during difficult times.

He expressed hope that the lessons and experiences gained through adversity will be able to guide the nation toward creating a future full of hope and purpose.

"Let us draw inspiration from the innumerable acts of courage, compassion, and bayanihan that we have witnessed in the face of adversity. Only then can we fortify the bonds that connect us, truly rebuild what has been lost, and realize a Bagong Pilipinas where dreams flourish and every Filipino thrives," he said.
